Our classes are open to people from all backgrounds. We give you the opportunity to:

After a Blue Talon Firearms Training course, you will feel confident on how to select, use, and safely store a firearm, as well as keep up (or get better) than your friends at the shooting range while enjoying your learning experience!

Basic
Pistol

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor.
Basic Range
Safety Officers

This course is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
Rifle
Training

This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.
Training
Counselor

The NRA Certified Training Counselor is responsible for training new instructor candidates according to NRA lesson plans 1. The counselor will conduct the NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor courses over a two-day period 1. The counselor will evaluate candidates’ performance based on their ability to handle firearms with confidence, use appropriate training aids, follow lesson plans, meet all learning objectives, and utilize the teaching philosophies expected of NRA Certified Instructors
Our Top Course

Concealed Carry Permit CourseÂ
New pistol permit applicants are required by NYS to take a 16hr training course with 2hrs of live fire.
The class will be divided into 2, 8 Hour Days, with additional 2 hours of range time and qualifications on the second day of class. You MUST attend BOTH days, pass the written exam, range qualifications to receive full credit for the course.
All ammunition, targets, range fees, firearm, eye and ear protection as well with course material will be provided and is included with course registration.
